Ljubljana, 24-th of June 2016
Slovenia was chosen as the host of the 17th World Congress of the Organisation Internationale de la Dentelle au Fuseau et à l’Aiguille (OIDFA). The main events took place at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, with accompanying programs in all major Slovenian lace centres – Idrija, Žiri, and Železniki.
I actively participated in several parts of the congress, including a fashion show and a lecture.
On June, 2016, a fashion show of evening creations featuring Idrija lace took place at the Ljubljana Exhibition Centre.
Fourteen renowned Slovenian designers participated, among them Tina Koder Grajzar, Borut Šulin, Damiana B. Logar, Damijana Marinič Gerbec (Atelje Dada), Irma Vončina, Maja Štamol Droljc, Marita Wrong, Lidija Anzelm, Urška Guček Pagon, Mojca Celin, Petja Berginc, Stanka Blatnik Blagotinšek, Tanja Zorn Grželj, Tjaša Škapin, and Urša Drofenik.
Tina presented two creations entitled “Ladies and Lace,” inspired by nostalgic feminine silhouettes and corset forms of past centuries, reinterpreted as the upper parts of evening gowns. Both tops were entirely handmade in Idrija lace using coarse linen thread, giving them a rustic texture and a magnified lace structure.
She also designed lace elements for creations by Damiana Bitežnik Logar (red and black dresses) and Tjaša Škapin.
On June 25, 2016, Tina delivered a lecture titled From Nature to Lace to numerous OIDFA participants.
She highlighted the deep connection between lace and nature — tracing the depiction of natural motifs throughout lace history and showing how modern lace design still draws its primary inspiration from organic forms.
Her own work, rooted in these natural inspirations, was presented in detail during the lecture.
