I am pleased to announce a new Idrija lace Pattern Design course starting in April 2026. The course is suitable both for bobbin lace makers who want to better understand patterns, as well as for designers who want to develop their own contemporary ideas in the field of bobbin lace.
Pattern-drawing is an essential part of creating original bobbin lace. During the course you will learn how lace patterns are created - from a sketch to the final drawing, from a simple texture in a narrow cloth stitch to repeating patterns, motif lace, patterns in broad-tape Idrija lace and 3D lace. Special emphasis is placed on the correct design of the elements that enable successful execution of lace.
The course will take place on-line, as a series of 10 weekly evening meetings via Zoom (my time - GMT+1), with intermediate individual work at home and individual corrections via email. We draw the patterns by hand. Join us in exploring the creative world of original Idrija lace and develop your own creative potential in the field!
