Original idrija lace design Tina Koder

Presentation of the book The Waterman from the Ljubljanica River — plus salad, fish and a bit of lace

Ljubljana, 23 June 2016

You are warmly invited on Thursday, 23 June at 5 pm to the presentation of the book at the tipoRenesansa studio, Breg 22, Ljubljana.

  • Lace — Waterman of the Ljubljanica River; salad, fish and some lace

Writer Robert Šabec has engagingly combined Valvasor’s writings on the Waterman with boating on the Ljubljanica and the sound of bobbins that echoed through Krakovo a few centuries ago. My sales gallery is also in Krakovo and, since Robert (originally from Idrija) is its neighbour, we quickly agreed to collaborate.

The book design was created by acclaimed Slovenian designer Maja Licul at the tipoRenesansa institute, where the book was also printed — they too are practically “Krakovians,” based only a few steps away in Zois Palace, where Empress Maria Theresa once founded a school of lace-making.

The book is graced by illustrations in Idrija lace that I designed especially for this project in collaboration with Maja. After the presentation at tipoRenesansa we will take a short walk to my gallery of original Idrija lace, where you will be able to view the lace pieces.
